here are the Italians, between today and tomorrow all on the pitch from Sinner and Fognini

It will already be two days full of emotions for Italian tennis in Monte Carlo. All four Azzurri who entered the main draw will take the field for the first round of the first Masters 1000 of the season on clay. We say it immediately: the commitments for Sinner, Musetti, Sonego and Fognini they are not impossible, none of the four are beaten, but they are not trivial challenges.

Sinner against Borna Coric to regain success

Jannik Sinner, seeded number 9, will see her on Monday 11 no earlier than 2 pm with Borna Coric. The Croatian is certainly not at the peak of his career but after an injury that has kept him away from the matches that matter, he is finally making a comeback in the noble parts of the circuit. It will be an important match for Sinner to assess the condition of his foot, after an annoying blister forced him to retire in Miami during the match against Cerundolo.

Musetti-Paire, for the show and for the result

Match that promises to be spectacular is that of Tuesday 12 April (time to be defined) between Lorenzo Musetti and Benoit Paire. As is well known, the two play a very high level tennis and there are all the conditions to attend a foil match, made of shots of the purest class. The 2002 Carrarino class is still looking for a little more continuity after the dazzling start to the season in 2021 and too many ups and downs in the following months.

In search of the lost Sonego

Who, on the other hand, has to find the key to the problem is Lorenzo Sonego, who has come out quite reduced from the disappointing swing on hard courts in California and Florida. For him, again on Tuesday 12 (time to be defined) a difficult match against the Belarusian Ilya Ivashkahowever, much more insidious on fast surfaces than on clay, at least on paper.

Fognini between past (glorious) and present

Speaking of clay, we close the presentation of the Azzurri’s matches with the match that will instead be the first chronologically (Monday 11 at 11), that of Fabio Fognini, specialist in red and the only Italian to win the Masters 1000 in Montecarlo, in 2019. After difficult months, the Ligurian, also reassured by the excellent results obtained in recent times in doubles with Simone Bolelli, is regaining game and results and starts as a favorite against another Frenchman, the Alsatian Arthur Rinderknech.
