Former MotoGP riders Valentino Rossi and Dani Pedrosa made their four-wheel debut at Imola, now it’s up to Jorge Lorenzo. The news had been in the air for months after he had raced on the Franciacorta circuit in the Porsche 911 GT3 last fall. Now the Majorcan has formalized the agreement with the Q8 Hi Perform to compete in the Porsche Carrera Cup Italia, a single-make championship featuring the new 911 GT3.
The new adventure of Jorge Lorenzo
The five-time world champion will compete in a total of six races between May and October, getting behind the wheel of the Porsche that will be released by Alberto Cerqui, reigning champion of this competition. With Cerqui he had carried out a day of tests behind closed doors last November and is now ready for the new adventure, which will join that of TV commentator for Dazn. Jorge Lorenzo will be the official driver of the Q8 Hi Perform team, a team sponsored by the Kuwaiti oil company, which is also the main sponsor of this championship.
The former Yamaha, Ducati and Honda rider will be a rookie in this paddock, but he clarifies his intentions before the season begins. “A new and exciting stage in my life begins“Said Jorge Lorenzo during the presentation of the Porsche 911 GT3 (992) he will drive this year. “Thanks a lot to the Q8 Hi Perform team for welcoming me and choosing me as a factory driver, I can’t wait to get started and prove my worth behind the wheel. We have a strong, united and ambitious team: round after round, our goal must always be to grow and win as many races as possible.“. Will it be the beginning of a future challenge to Valentino Rossi?
