The Sachsenring weekend saw not only Fabio Quartararo give an important acceleration to his escape in the championship, but also the positioning of some pieces in a market that is now almost concluded, with only two or three pawns to place, and waiting for understand who between Enea Bastianini and Jorge Martin will be Francesco Bagnaia’s companion in the internal Ducati team. After being very close to the Red to wear the colors of the Gresini team, Miguel Oliveira eventually swerved towards Aprilia, where he will be the reference driver of the newborn RNF WithU satellite team. What made the difference was above all the economic node, with Ducati offering a mini-engagement, a prospect rejected by Paulo Oliveira, Miguel’s father and manager. In Germany, Aprilia made a formal offer to the Portuguese rider, who is expected to sign the contract shortly.

The other pawn who in the German days has found accommodation for next season is Alex Rins, who in the end, among the hypotheses Aprilia and Ducati has chosen… Honda. In fact, the Spaniard will be the Spaniard today in Suzuki, forced to miss the German GP due to the after-effects of the fracture in his left wrist remedied in Barcelona, the new rider of Lucio Cecchinello, who after so many seasons of impositions by Honda, for the next year he had the OK from HRC to choose a rider he likes, while the other will be chosen and paid for by the Tokyo manufacturer with Ai Ogura on pole on Takaaki Nakagami. Rins, who will follow the same Honda path as his partner Joan Mir, who will be in the factory team, should sign a one-season contract to replace Alex Marquez, who is currently knocking on the doors of the only two teams still incomplete, that is Ducati Gresini and Aprilia RNF to avoid having to say goodbye to MotoGP after only three seasons in the premier class. From him, Marc’s brother has the weight of about one million euros from the sponsor Estrella Galicia, which is tempting both Gresini and Razlan Razali. Who, however, does not have his hands free, having to submit to the preferences of Aprilia – which will pay the riders – who, as a first option, would have that of an Italian rider. The only palatable name, at the moment, is that of Celestino Vietti, who, however, is not yet too sure he wants to leave Moto2 immediately, as well as the VR46, which manages it, brakes it, burned by Valentino Rossi’s bad experience with that team in its final season in MotoGP.
Raul, ktm and the lawyers
The other still free name that is liked is that of Raul Fernandez, who is not technically free, given that in recent weeks his management and the KTM lawyers are discussing the termination of the contract, with consequent penalty, requested by the Moto2 vice-world champion. 2021, which last year had already tried to free itself from the Mattighofen team and which in recent months has become increasingly out of the team. Also in this case, both Ducati and Aprilia like Fernandez, but until the contractual question with KTM is defined, both manufacturers will not make any move. With Pol Espargaro taking his place in Tech3, the name of the second driver of Hervé Poncharal’s satellite team will not be decided before the Austrian GP at the end of August, with the KTM leaders who would like to try to keep Remy Gardner, however called to take some steps forward after a subdued first part of the season.
